Cassandra Clare was goood. Very good. All 3 books in the "Mortal Instruments" series (
sugarfree03, thank you for the recommendation!), though first one was slow at the beginning.
It wasn't as awesome as Harry Potter, it wasn't as great as Twilight saga, even.
But if at the end of the day, after finishing a book I sigh with regret that it's done, it was a good book. So, yeah, I sighed.
And I moved on.
While searching for more stories on vampires, warlocks, and other supernatural creatures, I have come across another excellent story - Twilight fan fic, with main characters resembling the original ones, but the story itself is very different. Nothing supernatural there, all human.
Honestly, I can't even call it a fan fic, after reading 49 chapters of it (this probably beats any of Harry Potter or Twilight books in the number of pages, hands down), I can truthfully say - this story is its own. Almost nothing left from the original Edward or Bella, or Carlisle. And its absolutely freakin' fantastic!
You know, when you get into the plot and the characters, and realize that even though you disagree with their actions, you don't have any choice but to accept it, because if the author made them act any other way it would be fake? You get through a certain scene and you think - "It's not fair! Why?!", and when you learn the reason "why", you understand that this was the only choice? When you see the characters grow you appreciate that they don't seem manufactured or copied, when after each climactic scene you feel the joy, and the pain, and the overwhelming feeling that this is something absolutely EPIC!
So, yeah, that's the story I have discovered a few days ago. The name of it is
"Wide Awake" by AngstGoddess003 , and you can read it on fanfiction.net.
And, hey, it has over 13,000 reviews! Jesus Christus, there are more PUBLISHED books in stores that are selling much less! (oh, and I can give you plenty examples of what kind of "bulli-shit" is being sold in bookstores, it is such a shame!).
This to me proves the point - you don't have to be a publishing author to be a great one. This should be giving hope to a lot of talented people out there who have something to say, know how to say it and who actually USE THEIR GIFT! They found a way to be appreciated, more power to them.
I hope this girl does get published. I'm still waiting for the last chapters, and can't wait, but I can not imagine to be disappointed with the end of this story, and I'm pretty sure there going to be a very deep sigh when I'm done.
